Wanted to say hello

I agree with you that each day is a new adventure but some of the time these things hit you in the face and hit hard.
Reminds me of when we were hit by a direct lightening strike to our house. Wow was that a trip. The worst part of it all was the fact that I had a pet kitty that had been mine for many years and he died in the lightening hit. Everything else was just material items.
My Smokey babe died but I still remember this all gray cat that when I called him the neighbors thought I had a fire. So I had to add the babe part.
This was a just for fun thing. Hope your day is full of wonder and fun beyond belief.

  1. Hello Susan,

Did you really have a lightning strike fire and lose Smokey Babe? I am a cat person, so this is very disturbing to me. I also live in one of the lightning centers of the country. We have beaucoup lightning strikes here and sometimes people die.

Tell me your blob is only fiction!

  2. Hello Professor,
Yes I have had some really nasty things that have happened to me and I have mentioned to people that I should write a book.
The Smokey Babe thing is absolutely true and so are the poems I have on poetry.com all true and published.
    The titles are like this:
    The Love of the Family
    Pets are the Littlest Angels
My Three Angels-I got poet of the year for that one and it was about my three miscarriages where my three girls were lost before even having a chance.
Thank you for your posting. Feel free to come back anytime.
    See you in seminar.

  3. Hello everyone,
Today is August 1 and I am happy to be a part of everyone's adventure in learning. I have been thinking about some of the information I have learned about gardening and canning things for winter use. Some of the things were borrowed from friends and others were found in books and documents in magazines that I just wanted to test for myself.
One year when I lived in my grandparents house that I had purchased from my granny I decided to start using whatever grass and leaves that I had gathered not only from my garden and yard but also go around town and grab bags of leaves and grass from the curbside during the summer to side dress my tomatoes and peppers. Then again in the fall to bank around my foundation and retrieve and to use in the spring for mulch when I was cleaning up the yard before Lauren's return.
I remember the first time I did this thing because when I called the guy who normally tilled my little part of "Gods Green Acre" that I had and he came to my home and saw what I had done he had a fit. What he saw when he got there was a topping of 6 to 12 inches of mulch over my 24 foot by 24 foot space. I had built up a solid base for the microorganisms to start doing their magic.
My tiller guy we will call Lauren said I had to rake the junk (censored word) off from my space or he would not till. I said I was not going to do that and he would be wasting his time and gas if I did not get this tilled in. He said I better not try it again. I told him that if he wanted to get paid at my house he would do the job he advertised that he would do and that is to till whatever area necessary. You see he had told me one year that he tilled these large acreages for people. So I figured my small space would work with a little extra beating up for no extra charge and he did not charge extra either.
It was funny but you may have had to be there I am not sure about that part but it was funny anyway. He did till it up for me but you must realize he took longer than normal because he had to incorporate allot of materials into the soil.
My purpose for this to be done was so that the real poor soil that was a light brown in color so you can actually visualize that this was only sand and did not have any nutritional value to give the plants.
From a Jerry Baker show that ran on PBS where he stated that this was the best way to do the buildup of the nutrients in the soil.
It actually took me 3 years of doing the same thing to the dismay of Lauren to get the soil to start looking like the rich black loam I was striving for. Each time I put grass and leaves onto the garden space before Lauren would come to till I spread some 24 bags of debris onto it.
I went so far as to ask my friends for any materials I might get to use.
It really paid off in good tasting garden produce that overwhelmed me so much I was giving away bushels of garden produce from my little slice of heaven space. The amount of 7 bushels of tomatoes were donated the one summer to those in need and I canned all I could into salsa and spaghetti sauce and just stewed tomatoes. Just so you know I had planted 50+well tended tomatoes and some 30+well tended peppers
I even had a person who was just driving by stop and ask me for my 7 foot tall corn stalks for his Halloween display. I just said go and get all you want as they were dry and the crop had been harvested already.
So my logic on that part is God gave me this little area and he has shared all this very fine information with me and gave me the knowledge to how to care for his little acre I would share whatever extra comes from it.
Thank you everyone for coming to my blog and I will continue this saga as well as I can.
    See everyone in seminar.
